Christmas Circus Entertainment

As Winter is fast approaching and summer event season a distant memory. Its time to dust off the burgundy suit and adapt my entertainment for the Christmas theme.

Last year I was lucky enough to go to some lovely little events around the country performing as part of Twyford Village Christmas Fair where I provided street entertainment in the form of a 25 minute circus show filled with dare devil unicycling and action packed juggling routines to keep the families entertained. I was a hired circus entertainer in Wales for a series of Christmas market events.

Each audience is different and you never quite know how a certain feat or joke will go down depending on the age of the audience and a number of other factors.

I was booked for high street entertainment outside a large retail brand called Crabtree & Evelyn. Performing 2 consecutive days as part of their ‘Cracker Spectacular’. I was booked to attract more customers to the special promotions they had in store and I was photographed and filmed a lot as they had a lot of press there from all corners of the media promoting the special event. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this form of high-street circus entertainment because I thought with all the hustle and bustle of London that no-one would stop to watch but it was the opposite and quite often I had large crowds building to watch my impromptu circus shows.

Part of the challenge was to juggle their Christmas Crackers which was really hard but luckily they also had good sized ball balls which were much easier to juggle with.

Rounding off December I flew out to Lagos, Nigeria where I was booked by CMB Real Estate to perform at their Christmas concert alongside huge Nigerian music stars that I wasn’t aware of until I returned and looked them up on Spotify. I thought all the girls were trying to get into our dressing room to meet me but it seems I was mistaken ; ).

I was the circus performer from the UK to perform in Nigeria which was a real privilege and pressure all at the same time. I did a 40 minute stage show of fast paced circus performance and I got great feedback from lots of the guests of the company.

It was all in hand to go back this year in December but unfortunately the concert has been delayed this year. Fingers crossed I’ll be going back to Lagos in the future.

Who knows what other types of Christmas entertainment at events I’ll be doing this year.
